Decommission Notice: Cloud.gov identity provider to be decommissioned on March 1, 2027
Effective March 1, 2027, Cloud.gov will decommission the Cloud.gov identity provider.
What this means for you
As of March 1, 2027, logging in to Cloud.gov via the Cloud.gov identity provider will no longer be available.

How Cloud.gov can support you during the transition
We understand that the removal of the Cloud.gov identity provider may be very disruptive for some customers.
In order to avoid an interruption to your access to Cloud.gov, Cloud.gov offers two options:
- Switch to using Login.gov
- Integrate your agency’s identity provider with Cloud.gov. You can initiate this process by emailing support@cloud.gov.
IMPORTANT: The Login.gov integration with Cloud.gov requires a PIV/CAC card to log in.
If integrating your agency’s identity provider with Cloud.gov is not possible, then you must get a PIV card in order to access Cloud.gov after March 1, 2027.
If your agency does not offer PIV cards for credentialing, we can connect your agency with the USAccess program which provides PIV credentialing services for many federal agencies.
Why we are making this change
Federal agencies are required to implement secure identity and authentication practices for access to federal information systems in accordance with applicable federal laws, directives, and standards. These requirements include the Federal Information Security Modernization Act (FISMA), FIPS 201-3, NIST SP 800-53 Revision 5, and Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12), which established a government-wide framework for secure, reliable identification and authentication of federal employees and contractors.
In order to align with these policies and standards, Cloud.gov is decommissioning the Cloud.gov identity provider which allows multi-factor authentication (MFA) for platform access and moving to support only PIV-based authentication, which provides better guarantees and controls of user identity.
